Currently envisioned to be located in a natural park setting in Chicago, AIRES - The Chicago Open Air Classroom Project, is an innovative learning space designed to allow open air flow in through and around the space. AIRES will be utilized to conduct classes for teachers on nature and environmental education, as well as instruction on holding outdoor classes. AIRES will also be available for use by teachers and educators as a destination for environmental education field trips for students. AIRES is being designed by the internationally renowned firm of Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill. The site selection is in process, with the expectation that the design of AIRES will be completed in 2011, with construction to commence in 2012.
